While surfing the Ultimate Homeschool Blogroll, I came across a blog that had this video embedded. I was intrigued by the technique demonstrated. I've never painted with acrylics or oil paints before, but I was willing to give it a try.

It went very quickly and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Here is the end product!

Monet

In other news, the high school spring baseball season is quickly coming to an end. John will be heading to Tennessee with his team and dad to play at the NACA Baseball Tournament this week while the rest of us stay behind and keep track of the team via that website and the team's GameChanger page. That site is probably the best $8 subscription I've ever paid. We get updated via text message (helpful at games that don't have scoreboards) and can follow pitch-by-pitch on the computer or iPad when we're not at games. We also have immediate access to John's stats, which is nice to have so we don't have to wait until the end of the season to make updates to his recruiting website.

This also means that our homeschool "year" is coming to a close. All that really means is that it's time for me to evaluate how things have gone over the past several months, arrange to meet with our assessor, and complete the paperwork to get ready for next "year." The learning never stops! It also means it's time to start getting serious about planning for two high school students, since Lizzy will be a freshman in the fall! I enjoy playing "guidance counselor" during these years and really value the input that my teens give regarding how they want their education to play out.
