OK, not really, otherwise I wouldn't be attempting another blog post after not blogging for nearly two months. You know the story: life gets in the way, so many more interesting/pesky/time-consuming things are going on, and the last thing I feel like doing is BLOGGING.
Still, I do feel a bit guilty about not posting more. Facebook is still to blame. It's so easy to just post a photo or a blurb about what we're doing and get that almost instant feedback in the form of a "like" or perhaps a comment, which hardly ever happens here at the blog. Oh well...it is what it is.
So, what have we been up to since I last posted? Baseball, of course. John's spring season is well underway, past the halfway mark. The team has done really well, with an 11-2 record overall. Not too shabby for a bunch of homeschooled kids. ;) Drew's team has had a few games and a several rain-outs, including an out of town tourney which got cancelled when we were luckily only one exit away from home on the freeway.
We're all plugging along with our studies in our own, individual ways.
- I have taken up my own Great Books study once again (just finishedThe Brothers Karamazov
and am studying Latin: First Year (Henle Latin)
as well.
- Julia wrapped up her two college art classes last week, so now she has 9 credits under her belt before going full-time in the fall.
- John is immersed in the Constitution right now, so his American History studies has kind of slowed down so he can savor that wonderful document. He also dug the 4 foot deep hole for our little fishy pond out back.
- Lizzy is currently thinking about what high school classes she will pursue in the fall as a freshman.
- Connor is avidly soaking in all sorts of science information from a variety of sources. One moment that stands out in particular is the conversation that he had with his great uncle about physics. Where does he learn this stuff??? He' also crazy about his lizard.
- Drew and Cate read books from the library on their current interests, work in their workbooks, do all sorts of mental math, and play outside now that the weather is nicer.
- AJ, who turned 5 in January, decided to show us he could read....just kind of out of the blue one day. His favorite car "game" is spewing out math facts just to pass the time ("1+1 is 2; 2+2 is 4; 4+4 is 8; 8+8 is 16; 16+16 is....what is it again? Oh yeah, 32!"
1. The big screen at Prasco Park. 2. Dissection (female frog). 3. First BOB Book. 4. Hole digger John. 5. The finished pond.
